TLO - Why We (I) Love Him

TheLittleOne, or TLO, or even LiquidTLO, is a Starcraft 2 player who received a great deal of attention shortly before suffering from an extreme case of carpal tunnel, forcing him out of the game to help recover.

TLO is one of my favorite players. I really don't know how good he is anymore, as his tournament attendance has been, sadly, low, but that's not even why I love him. So I'm going to give you a brief history of TLO, and maybe you can see why you should love him, if you don't already.

I heard of TLO not too long after my passion for Starcraft 2 arrived (shortly after the game released, if I'm being honest...), but didn't pay much attention to him. I saw him interviewed at an MLG, where he was wearing awesome sunglasses and answering a question about how women apparently love him. I have to say, I didn't know him very well, but with his sunglasses and oddly awesome German accent, I found myself thinking, "...I can see why women like him."Not much more. Just some cool guy.

TLO was making rounds in tournaments. He was a pretty big star, mostly because he was the only well-known (and good) random player. Shortly after I discovered him, he changed to Terran. And shortly after that, he had to call it temporary quits on Starcraft 2. There went that one cool guy. Oh well.

Except that, for some reason, TLO was never completely out of the picture. I don't think he should've been for anyone. TLO recovered from his severe lapse of carpal tunnel, and while he still has to be safe, I remember watching his stream (http://www.twitch.tv/liquidtlo/b/296592716) when he was apologizing and groaning about how he could only practice ~4 hours, doctor's orders. Shortly after that, he did the 24 hour charity, which was promoted by the very awesome Felicia Day, and to which I tried my best to watch whenever I could.

Shortly after that, TLO promised his fans he would get better.

Maybe this is why I think TLO is one of the greatest Starcraft 2 players in the world. He didn't like that he couldn't practice. He hated being bad. He hated it so much, felt so disappointed, he apologized to his fans and promised him, and them, he would get better. I've been watching his stream faithfully since then, and I can tell you one thing.

TLO is one guy to be respected.

Go watch his stream. Go watch it from back in July. Watch it from the 24-hour charity to now, and look at how much this guy improves. How nice and cool he is to his fans. How he deals with BM. How he sometimes wears shutter shades. How is music is so european and girly...and, believe it or not, how right now I'm watching his stream and he's playing Disney Renaissance music.

TLO already has a big following, and I'm sure most of them love him for the same reasons I do. If you're not watching him, you really need to. You'll be inspired.

* Zombie Legend is a casting team that is available for paid and non-paid casting positions. It consists of a girl who's mediocre at SC2 and a man who's pretty bad at SC2, but happens to be really good at talking. They both share something in common though: they love Starcraft 2.

Art, Infinity Seven, zemotion, and ESports

Please go here for the official press release from DA! http://hq.deviantart.com/blog/44700501/

So as you can read (or guess from the title of the article), an E-Sports team named Infinity Seven has signed with SteelSeries and Deviantart, which for some of you less artistically inclined type is one of the biggest art-sharing communities in the world. Infinity Seven has the (pretty big) privilege of having zemotion as a manager (known as isJinn over there). Most people would say it's the other way around, but c'mon.

zemotion is a pretty big deal.

ZombieGrub, what are you talking about? zemotion isn't MVP, silly. Too true! But zemotion is almost the MVP of the art world. You can see her gallery here: http://zemotion.deviantart.com/

Pretty awesome stuff right?

And you know that awesome picture of Huk and Idra? Yeah, that was her. How about that Day9 sexy photo of him looking so nice in his suit? Her. She's a pretty good photographer, see, and her photography is so good anyone who spends about thirty minutes on DA will know her. Just like anyone who spends thirty minutes looking up SC2 E-Sports will know who MVP is.

So why is this so important I feel the need to a) write about it and b) compliment her like I'm about to go lesbian? A well-known photographer in the art world, who is a young woman, is taking the initiative to manage her own team and promote the world of E-Sports. For anyone out there who's an artist whose dream in life is to work at Blizzard (or any other gaming company, it really doesn't matter!), the combination of an icon from the art world joining forces with the greatness that is E-Sports is, well. Pretty great.

P.S: For that matter, I'd like to take the time to shout-out not only to zemotion, a woman artist pummeling her way through the male-dominated world of E-Sports, but also to any other woman or awesome artist who loves E-Sports. Art & E-Sports make me so happy.

Dreamhack Summer 2011

http://day9.tv/archives/?search=dreamhack

Gotta say, I was impressed with HuK's overall show of skill - he had some really good moves. But overall, I was unimpressed with his cheese. /:

Maybe I'm biased toward Zerg though. Yeah, Moon cheesed back, but only after a four-gate and two DT rushes...
